Once described as “ the most Romantic place to stay in all of England“, Wizards Thatch of Alderley Edge was the subject of  recent scrutiny  from none other than The Times Newspaper’s  Mystery Guest whose  mission is to seek out the real truth behind Britain’s’ hotels and  guest houses. After his nights stay in The Merlin Suite he gave the establishment a 9.5 out of ten for the room - one of the highest  ratings ever recorded . His verdict on this 400 year old gem was ‘It was cosy, spotless and full of intrigue’.

Wizards Thatch is situated  less than a minute from Alderley’s famous street of restaurants  and bars, hidden away under its tea cosy of roses and ivy which completely camouflage the house in the Summer.

The three self contained suites, Merlin, Camelot and The Wizardry all have four poster beds, draped in red and gold tapestries - with Camelot and The Wizardry boasting seven footers! Travellers from all over the world have visited to experience a taste of Olde England and they are not disappointed judging by the reviews left on websites such as Trip Advisor, Laterooms etc.

Owner, Ian Lambert said “Romance is always  in the air at Wizards Thatch. Honeymoons and romantic breaks make up most bookings.

Guests often say that they are going to propose to their loved one here, so we make sure their stay becomes an experience of a lifetime.”

He added ,” Guests say it is like living in The Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter - but probably the greatest attraction is the candlelabria which hangs from an old rose over the pond, which guests light and sip their Champagne by.
